Season 3:  Point of No Return

Episode 45:  "Matters of Honor"


Under orders from Mr. Mordan the Centauri secure the planet Zagros 7, a training base for the Rangers. Unable to escape they manage to slip a single Ranger, Marcus Cole, off the planet who heads for Babylon 5 to ask for help from Delenn and Sheridan. They must help the rest of the Rangers escape from Zagros 7 before the Shadows come to take the planet. Marcus and Delenn introduce Sheridan to the Whitestar, the first in a fleet of ships designed for the coming darkness. With Sheridan commanding the Whitestar they engage the Shadows for the first time at Zagros 7. It is during this engagement Sheridan exhibits his tactical skills against a superior enemy. Earth Dome sends an agent from the Special Investigation Division to Babylon 5 with the recording of the Shadow vessel taken by a star fury pilot. He is to visit each of the ambassadors to find out if anyone can identify the vessel or the race it belongs to.


Episode 46:  "Convictions"

The recent sighting of Kosh's true form at Babylon 5 draws a string of spiritual seekers from several races including a Brother Theo and his group of highly trained monks. A series of bombings at Babylon 5, with no apparent motive other than terror, renders the station in chaos. With the help of Brother Theo and his men the bomber is identified - a disgruntled loner who recently lost all that is important to him and his only purpose now is to see others living in fear. The lone bomber has planted one last bomb that will destroy the entire station and Sheridan is forced to get involved at a personal level.


Episode 47:  "A Day In The Strife"

Increased security at Babylon 5 to curtail weapons trading results in an increase in delays and fees for the merchants and traders doing business through the station. They see this as a move by Sheridan to grab more control and this creates conflict between the civilian and military populations. An alien probe arrives at Babylon 5 with an ultimatum - an intelligence test that must be answered in full and without error within 24 hours or else it will self destruct taking Babylon 5 with it. The Centauri send a Narn to Babylon 5 to take over control of the Narn population from G'Kar and to try and bait him into returning to Narn under the threat of killing innocent Narns if he refuses. The Narns on the station see G'Kar's replacement as a puppet of the Centauri government and reject his leadership. Dr. Franklin's use of stims is getting out of control and is damaging his performance. In a move to protect Vir from the darkness that is coming Londo reassigns Vir to Minbar.


Episode 48:  "Passing Through Gethsemane"

One of Brother Theo's monks, Edward, is being stalked and tormented by a group of vigilante terrorists. They have been secretly planting a black rose on his person and marking the walls of the station with the words. "Death Walks Among You". With the help of a hired telepath the group also has his mind tampered with. Edward begins having visions of brutal murders and cannot tell if they are real memories or hallucinations. After some investigation Edward learns he was once a very different person than who he is today. Previously known as Charlie, "The Black Rose Killer", he was captured and sentenced to death of personality, a complete mind wipe of all memories. Unable to come to terms with the revelation, Edward is tormented even further by a very puzzling dilemma - does erasing one's memory also erase any stain upon the soul? He soon willingly puts himself in the ultimate position to test his faith. Lyta Alexander returns from the Vorlon home world, the only person to ever return from Vorlon space alive, however, she has been altered by them.


Episode 49:  "Voices of Authority"

In preparation for the coming war against the Shadows Delenn sends Marcus and Susan to find and enlist any remaining "First Ones". Susan first pays a visit to Draal on Epsilon 3 and he allows her to be plugged into the great machine which enables her to see across space and time to locate the First Ones. While plugged in Susan finds the evidence that proves President Clark was behind the assassination of his predecessor President Santiago. The Ministry of Peace sends a political officer to be Sheridan's right hand, to make sure any future decisions he makes are politically correct. She tries to persuade Sheridan to come around to her way of thinking by attempting to seduce him. G'Kar senses there is something going on at Babylon 5, a gathering of forces, and he feels he is being left out of the loop.


Episode 50:  "Dust to Dust"

Psi Cop Bester returns to Babylon 5 in pursuit of a drug pusher. Sheridan has a problem, if Bester steps foot on the station he will find out about the "Conspiracy of Light", the forces being organized by Delenn and Sheridan to fight the upcoming Shadow war. The drug Bester is trying to stop distribution of is called dust, it activates the latent telepathic gene in normals and temporarily gives them the ability to invade anyone's mind, experiencing the victims entire life in a matter of moments. Feeling left out of all the goings-on around Babylon 5 lately, G'Kar acquires some of this dust to help him uncover secret conspiracies. He accosts Londo and rips from his mind all of his secrets. G'Kar learns that Londo was at the center of all that resulted in the fall of Narn . On the verge of killing Londo, G'Kar has an epiphany (with the unknowing help of Kosh).


Episode 51:  "Exogenesis"

Alien parasites find their way on board the station which take over their host's body, imparting a clean bill of health and an apparently new lease on life for the victim. Marcus investigates when some of his old contacts in down below turn up missing and find the victims are actually willing volunteers. The parasites are actually living records of civilizations long past, created to preserve memories and experiences against the day when all knowledge falls into a new dark age. Susan is given the task of trying to find out who among the staff can be trusted with the knowledge of the forces Delenn and Sheridan are secretly building.


Episode 52:  "Messages from Earth"

A woman on the run for her life from Earth Force is smuggled onto Babylon 5 with the help of Garibaldi and Marcus. She possesses knowledge Earth Dome is willing to kill for in order to suppress. Seven years earlier both Garibaldi and her witnessed the uncovering of a Shadow vessel which had been buried under the surface of Mars for a thousand years. Now a second Shadow vessel has been discovered buried on the Jupiter moon of Ganymede but this time Earth Dome wants to keep it for themselves. For the second time Sheridan must take the Whitestar and engage and try to destroy a Shadow vessel. The influence of the Nightwatch is growing on B5 and Zack must choose who he is loyal to, Nightwatch or Sheridan.


Episode 53:  "Point of No Return"

In response to the destruction of the Shadow vessel at Ganymede, President Clark declares martial law throughout the Earth Alliance and orders Nightwatch to take over security at Babylon 5. Throughout the Earth Alliance the military begins to split into two factions, those loyal to Earth and those loyal to President Clark. Soon open fighting erupts between earth vessels and then spills over into Babylon 5. Without a security force he can trust, Sheridan turns to G'Kar and his people for station security. In return for this help G'Kar tells Sheridan that he now wants in on the secret alliance forming against the eminent Shadow war. Londo requests a seer from Centauri Prime pay him a visit, he wants to know if there is a grand destiny before him or a great darkness.


Episode 54:  "Severed Dreams"

Two defecting warships arrive at Babylon 5 on the run from President Clark. In response, Clark sends his forces to Babylon 5 with orders to arrest Sheridan and his command staff and place Babylon 5 under the direct authority of the Nightwatch. Sheridan makes the decision to defy Clark's orders and prepares the station for battle against Earth Force. He succeeds from the Earth Alliance and declares Babylon 5 an independent state. Delenn hears of news that the Grey Council on Minbar refuses to become involved in the conflicts breaking out among the races of the League of Non Aligned Worlds. She heads to Minbar to remind the Grey Council that the Shadows are the forces behind all the chaos and that they must get involved. She breaks the Grey Council and pleads for the Religious and Worker classes to join the fight if the Warrior class will not. With the few ships she manages to rally she heads for Babylon 5 to give assistance to Sheridan.


Episode 55:  "Ceremonies of Light and Dark"

Sheridan rounds up all the remaining members of Nightwatch he can find and sends them back to Earth, all but a few that remain behind in hiding. They plot to assassinate Delenn believing she is the alien force behind Sheridan that has caused him to defect. Meanwhile, Delenn tries to get all the principals at Babylon 5 to participate in a Minbari ceremony of rebirth to recognize all that has been lost and left behind and all that is new and before them. While welcoming a Minbari captain on board the station, Delenn is abducted and the kidnappers demand that Sheridan get rid of the Minbari cruisers protecting Babylon 5 or else they will kill her. Delenn is injured during the rescue but continues the ceremony of rebirth from her Med lab bed.


Episode 56:  "Sic Transit Vir"

Vir receives a visitor, his pre-arranged fiancee whom he is to marry within a few days. As they spend time together to get to know each other Vir discovers just how vicious Centauri prejudice towards the Narns has become. Zack Allan brings a problem to Lt. Commander Ivanova, forged transit papers for Narns slipping out of Centauri Prime and Vir is implicated. As Susan investigates she discovers the transferred Narns are reported all dead. As a result an attempt is made on Vir's life by an angry Narn who has sworn a blood oath to kill him. As the truth is uncovered we find out just how different Londo and Vir are.


Episode 57:  "A Late Delivery From Avalon"

Babylon 5 gets a visit from King Arthur on a mission to return Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. Marcus is content to let the man continue believing he is King Arthur, but Dr. Franklin insists on finding out the truth in an effort to cure the delusional man. The man escapes from Med lab and embarks on a mission of chivalry in down below. Clearly a trained warrior, Arthur finds a comrade in arms in G'Kar and begins to recount his haunting battle experiences. Dr. Franklin finally learns that the man proclaiming to be Arthur was actually a gunnery sergeant when Earth first made contact with the Minbari. He was ordered to fire on the Minbari in a misunderstanding that led to the Earth-Minbari War and almost wiped out humanity. Consumed by guilt he has been searching for redemption ever since. Michael York guest stars as Arthur.


Episode 58:  "Ship of Tears"

Psi Cop Bester returns to Babylon 5 and claims he knows that President Clark is a puppet of aliens known as "Shadows" and that they are interfering with Bester and his telepaths designs for power. With information that weapons components from Earth are en route to the Shadows, Bester enlists Sheridan's support and they intercept the transport and bring it to Babylon 5. The transport contains hundreds of Bester's telepaths suspended in cryogenic chambers. Dr. Franklin finds they are implanted with cybernetic wetware far beyond our technology and when one of them awakens it immediately merges with the station's computer systems. With Garibaldi in the possession of G'Kar's 'Book of G'Quan', Garibaldi puts the pieces together and discovers why the Shadows need telepaths and why they fear them.


Episode 59:  "Interludes and Examinations"

The Shadows are no longer hiding behind the scenes, now they are openly attacking the lesser races. Sheridan knows that the only way they have a chance is to organize the lesser races and the League of Non Aligned Worlds into one cohesive force, but they are reluctant to join unless Sheridan can prove he has power at least equal to the Shadows. Sheridan turns to Kosh and the Vorlons to provide a show of force. Kosh refuses until Sheridan provokes him to anger and then finally agrees to provide proof, but with a high cost. Londo has distanced himself from Mr. Mordan, in response Mr. Mordan turns to Lord Refa to do his biding. When Londo puts a stop to it Mr. Mordan is forced to take extreme measures to get Londo back on the Shadow's leash. Dr. Franklin resigns as Chief of Staff of Med lab until he can get his abuse of "stims" under control.


Episode 60:  "War Without End, Part 1"

Jeffrey Sinclair has been based on Minbar as Ranger 1 when he gets a message from the past, he is to rendezvous at Babylon 4 for an appointment with fate. Babylon 5 starts receiving a message from Sector 14, a message from the future. Soon Sinclair arrives at Babylon 5 and with the help of Delenn convinces Sheridan to take them into the time rift in Sector 14. They must enter the time rift and stop an eminent Shadow attack on Babylon 4 or else the time line will be altered. As Sheridan uses the Whitestar to destroy Shadow fighters approaching Babylon 4, the blast destabilizes the time rift and Sheridan is pulled out of time into the future.


Episode 61:  "War Without End, Part 2"

With Sheridan "unstuck" in time, the Whitestar continues to Babylon 4 where Delenn, Susan and Marcus help Sinclair with his mission through time. With the help of the great machine on Epsilon 3, Sinclair is to take Babylon 4 back through time 1000 years ago. When Sinclair arrives at his destination in the past a great mystery is revealed - the origins of Valen and what happened to Babylon 4. During Sheridan's travel through time he gets a glimpse of Centauri Prime's future and an aged Emperor Londo Mollari beseeches Sheridan and Delenn to help free his people from the dark servants of the Shadows.


Episode 62:  "Walkabout"

Kosh's replacement arrives from the Vorlon home world and in contrast to the first Kosh this one is darker, menacing and instills fear in Lyta Alexander. Sheridan believes he has a weapon that can be used against the Shadows and plans to purposely seek out, engage and attempt to destroy a Shadow vessel. For support he asks for ships from the Non Aligned Worlds to assist him, his first test of the solidarity of his secret alliance. Sheridan's plan works and for the first time his alliance begins to believe they have a chance. Over fears that he has lost himself in his job, Dr. Franklin embarks on a "walkabout", a journey through Babylon 5 until he meets himself.


Episode 63:  "Grey 17 is Missing"

Garibaldi investigates the disappearance of a maintenance repairman and discovers there is an entire level that has been concealed all these years. The level is now the secret home to a doomsday cult that worships enlightenment through death and lives in harmony with the perfect predator, a Zarg. With the absence of Jeffrey Sinclair as Ranger 1, Delenn is given command of the Rangers. The warrior caste of Minbar objects to Delenn, a member of the religious caste, being in control of such a powerful military force and have sworn to stop her from becoming Ranger 1. Neroon of the warrior caste is planning to kill Delenn before the ceremony.


Episode 64:  "And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place"

Londo informs Vir he has devised a plan to bait G'Kar back to Narn to have him killed. At the same time he has also promised the Centauri Royal Court he will end the feud between House Mollari and House Refa. Vir finds himself in the middle of schemes on top of schemes as he becomes the hostage of Lord Refa and subjected to a mind scan. Brother Theo invites a group of religious leaders, his spiritual rivals, to Babylon 5 to secretly bring news of the resistance on Earth. One of the Reverends pays a personal visit to Sheridan to remind him of the little things we forget when consumed by big problems. As Ranger 1 now, Delenn has a surprise to show Sheridan - a fleet of Whitestars to command against the Shadow war.


Episode 65:  "Shadow Dancing"

Sheridan and Delenn decide to mount the largest offensive yet against the Shadows and plead for the League of Non Aligned Worlds to contribute as many ships as possible. Sheridan sends Susan and Marcus on Whitestar 1 to sector 83 to await any sighting of the Shadow fleet and to send word when spotted. With the help of telepaths as weapons against the Shadows, Delenn and Sheridan's Army of Light manage to turn away the advancing Shadow fleet but at a cost of 2 ships lost for every single Shadow vessel destroyed. Dr. Franklin's walkabout finally ends when he meets himself but is almost killed in the process. Now that the Shadows have suffered their largest loss yet in battle they now turn their attention to Babylon 5, specifically to Sheridan, and send an emissary that threatens to remove Sheridan from the equation. Melissa Gilbert guest stars as Anna.


Episode 66:  "Z'ha'dum"

The Shadows send an emissary to entice Sheridan to come to Z'ha'dum and hear their side of the story. The emissary is Sheridan's wife Anna who was presumed killed at Z'ha'dum in a failed exploration mission. Despite Sheridan's misgivings that Anna is not all ;she used to be, he goes with her to Z'ha'dum knowing he is most likely walking into a trap to certain death. As Sheridan and Anna head to Z'ha'dum in Whitestar 1 the Shadows surround Babylon 5. At Z'ha'dum Sheridan meets Mr. Mordan and someone named Justin. Together with Anna the three of them explain to Sheridan the motives behind the Shadow's actions and it is here we learn for the first time the ideological differences between the Shadows and Vorlons view of evolutionary progress. Sheridan rejects their point of view and offer to join them, instead he has brought a surprise for them - 2 thermal fusion bombs aboard Whitestar 1. Londo is finally given an appointment to the Royal Court on Centauri Prime and feels it is more of a leash than a promotion.
